Importance of Sustainable Fishing Practices

Sustainable sea fishing in Ko Samet Rayong Thailand. I visited Ko Samet island with my wife and two children, and while on our family holiday, I captured these portraits of local fishermen. My wife and I are keen environmentalists and very interested in sustainability. These portraits tell the story of the man who carries the blueprint and the importance of sustainable fishing practices on the island. Spending the morning with these men made me aware of the importance of sustainable fishing practices, especially as the demand for fish continues to grow in Thailand. Koh Samet is one of the eastern seaboard islands of Thailand, and almost the whole island is disclaimed as a national park. It is in the Gulf of Thailand off the coastline of the Thai province of Rayong, approximately 220 kilometres southeast of Bangkok where fishing is still sustainable and the reef is healthy.
